Kverkfjöll Daytour

Our day starts early on this trip. Departing at 7 a.m., a 4WD will take us for 2½ hours through uninhabited areas, till finally reaching our destination, Vatnajökull glacier. At its edge we will view the ever-changing ice cave formed in part by the river Volga. Our walk over the glacial tongue Kverkjökull and then up the white, expansive Langa Fönn will lead us to the unique geothermal area Hveradalur, surrounded by glacial ice at an altitude of 1800 m and full of energy, contrasts and colours. In good weather we can see on the way the magnificent outlet glacier from the western Kverkfjöll ridge, not to mention the spectacular glacial river spreading over the black sand far below. After this hike of approximately 8 hours, we will stop on our way back to Möðrudalur at the nature reserve Hvannalindir, where we will walk in the footsteps of the outlaw family who stayed there centuries ago. Arrival back in Möðrudalur should be between 8 and 9 p.m.

Please note we need 4 persons to confirm a departure.
